"Wind is an opportunity we must seize now"

Niclas Dahl, Managing Director, Oceanbird

A Swedish collaboration

In December 2021, the two established Swedish companies Alfa Laval and Wallenius founded Oceanbird to radically reduce the marine industry’s carbon footprint. The 50/50 joint venture, formally called AlfaWall Oceanbird, is developing technology for wind-powered vessel propulsion.

We have done it before

Alfa Laval and Wallenius are familiar partners in developing ground-breaking technology. The companies have collaborated before on PureBallast, which is one of today’s leading solutions for chemical-free ballast water treatment. Niclas Dahl headed the development and launch of PureBallast, and is now Managing Director of Oceanbird.

“Decarbonizing shipping is imperative, and wind is a free source of power with a substantial role to play, and minimum need of infrastructure” says Niclas Dahl. “Wind is an opportunity we must seize now. There’s simply no time to waste in phasing out fossil fuels.”

The Oceanbird team

The Oceanbird team could be hundreds and even thousands of people. Without our partners, consultants, investors, parent companies and Oceanbird ambassadors, we would never have gotten this far.
However, they wouldn’t fit into one screen so here is the core team, and channels where to find them.
